ANAMIKA BHATNAGAR
for Croton-Harmon Board of Education
ADVOCACY • INCLUSION • INNOVATION
for the benefit of all students
Key Initiatives
If elected, I will first and foremost be an advocate for the students the school district serves. The Board of Education is responsible for influencing and supporting the district’s vision; helping allocate resources to fulfill the district’s mission of educating students; setting a direction that centers achievement while providing accountability; and fostering an equitable, inclusive, safe, and healthy environment for all.
I will work to maintain partnerships with the local community, communicate effectively with all stakeholders (including those who do not have children in the school district), and ensure that our educational system is funded in a fiscally responsible manner. I am a regular attendee at Board of Education meetings, both in person and virtually, and have witnessed firsthand how the Board can do this successfully.
Key initiatives I will prioritize include:
CREATIVITY AND CHOICE
Inspiring students to pursue the arts, drama, and music allows them to develop new ways of thinking and interacting, as do opportunities to play team sports and engage in physical activity during the day.
When every member of the school community can pursue their passion, everyone can succeed.
ACHIEVEMENT
Fostering critical thinking skills alongside the search for knowledge and factual information will prepare our students for life after graduation.
Trusting our teachers and administrators to ensure that instructional materials, content, and modes of engagement are subject- and grade-appropriate is key to our students’ success.
HEALTH, SAFETY, AND WELL-BEING
Developing resilience and empathy are as crucial to the well-being of our students and staff as safe paths to school for walkers, bikers, bus riders, and drivers.
All students and staff need to feel welcome, supported, and safe inside school buildings.
SUSTAINABILITY
Supporting districtwide efforts to conserve resources and reduce waste remains an imperative, as does transitioning to clean and efficient energy sources, including electric vehicles.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
Ensuring that value is allocated to where it serves the most students and also where it addresses the most acute needs is critical.
As a trustee, I will work to achieve a balance that keeps both school-district and community stakeholders invested in the work of educating our students.
